Ignorantly the only thing I knew about Turkey was Kebab and Loukoums…I discovered a cool city behind the scenes.

Hotel Londra in Begolu, typical, old and dusty, art deco, full of souvenirs and tropical birds in cages.

Climb up Galata tower and admire the 360 view of Istanbul after breakfast in a sunny and cold day.

Walk down to the shore through tunnel streets full of musical instruments small shops. eventually buy a guitar…

Stop to one of these fruit juice shops off the streets and have a pomegranata and orange fresh juice.

Stop for lunch at the local fish market hiden behind the boats accessories stores down galata area(not the famous one that I don’t recommend at all), greatest fish ever, even though I discovered the sardines were fished from the bosphorus which was kind of gross…maybe ask for the fried calamari that live in the sea…

Of course a tour of the Mosquee, wrap around your head a foulard and let you become someone else.

After this magical trip into the culture finish up the day with an intense Public Hammam session. Relaxing is a big word, you get scrubbed intensively up and down, after it your skin feels like the butt of a baby…And the massage is more of a torture. The one thing garanteed to make you feel good about yourself is that you feel a super model among the crowd…

Relax and dine in a cozy turkish place… I recommend for a typical dinner Galata House, order the Georgian Ravioli and Gulash veal. Talk to the owner from Istanbul who is multi-lingual and a very interesting person and listen to is wife songs that are creepy but it makes you in the local mood…

Then stops at the Jazz club in the same street for a last beer.

If you are wondering which are next winter colors, it looks and must haves during your sales shopping sessions i might give you a hint…Working in fashion makes you feel like all the things in the stores are already out of fashion. But not necessarely as fashion is a work in progres and a cycle. First it gets introduced: like leopard prints, then accepted in a larger scale, and then abandoned for something new. And so on the cycle keeps on going…No worries Leopard is not out of the game yet…Next trends are daring: pink, pink, pink, turquoise,gold and flare, hats and prints. A mix of bohemian cool vibe and feminine elegance.

Don’t be scare to wear jewellery, fur and and be too much.

Anything is permitted this season. After scarsity comes opulence.

I used to love shopping. Since I shop for stores my compulsive passion has totally stopped which is much better for my bank account. Actually it made me be the opposite I became minimalist and essential. Now i start to understand why most of people disguise in black in fashion it is to be neutral so your mind doesn’t get confused by new colours all the time. And black never goes out of fashion.
The concept for people working in this industry is that everything that is in the stores now seems old and out of fashion already. It is always about finding the new IT thing at first. Fashion is a concept that should be in your blood if you want to survive.
Fashion is all about time. It is fast and instantaneous. Like a instant cup noodle: buy eat, and throw.
Tomorrow, consumers will be driven by 4 things:
- keep a bag more than 3 months not looking ridiculously last season.
- Being ask, this is so nice where is it from? And the answer could be anything you decide, because unreconizable luxury is what mature consumers will want tomorrow. No sign, no show, just beautiful colour, shape and touch.
- Timeless products that you can were with everything, and not think too much about fashionably correct.
- Personal taste (unfortunatly, sometimes is is quite ugly)

Luxury has change logos into this:

Products have become a LOGO. The product speak for it-self.
Marketing today is about individuating one product, material colour, that could become the logo identification of the brand. This is how luxury has moved from the 90’s to the 2010’s.
Materials, colours and shapes that are Unique, identify and differentiate one brand to another. And the job is quite tough today. It is the war of handbags.
Eventually people will get tired of seeing the same things everywhere and brands would have to move towards an another strategy to keep their clients.
SERVICE and FLEXIBILITY will be the next logo?
Can you make me a fridge in crocodile? Or a tooth brush in gold?
Lifestyle is beyond fashion.
Luxury is first of all a lifestyle and an attitude.
I believe the brand that can make anything you want will be the winner of this ultra-competitive industry.
It is with service that you win over your competitors. Be better and offer the impossible. 100 % satisfaction.
Brands are driven by their consumers. The only power they don’t have is to make a choice for them.
But the real challenge today is to attract people that understand your products: the understated. That buy because they LOVE and BELIEVE in you. These are the people that will be the prophet of your story and will create a dream epidemy.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
Constant research and anticipate future scenaries. When I look at an object I see how it could be in my future.
Not only Immagine an idea but put them into reality.
Define an Industrial Designer:
Improve a common use object, a tool you use everyday in order to transform it in something unique, and not so common. Banal gets Unusual.
But its is hard to reach to fame.
So in which type of Designer do you feel part?
The bastards. A free spirit. Multiprojecter.
Where there is a potential i can see something for  the future. To anticipate the new designs.
What about your last project?
A Private Loft, tha concentrate in a space 3 different moods with 3 diff.objects.
No walls, the concept is to divide the space with different shapes. Harmony research between shapes and objects. A new way to conceive the spaces and its
The kitchen is made of Corian, with lighted .

There are no links between  verticals and orizontals.  And the baseboard is made with L.E.D light.
What are you afraid of regarding the futur:
That they will be none.

First time , playing blackjack at the casino and a stop at Raffles for a singapore sling.

Second time what could  you do if you are a girl and you have a few hours to spend in a totally new city whithout your boyfriend:

Because you would love to see all the museums but unfortunalty they will be all closed by the time you arrive (7 pm)  and because it will take to much time anyways.
So free of baggage and my canon around my neck i ran into a taxi and put the timer on my watch, I had exaclty 4 hours to take back with me the best of Singapore street designers and fashion.
First stop was arab street and Haji lane.
A sucession of small cool shops one next to the other, often with 2 or 3 floors like a little house. Colorful and full of music.
Most of them closed at 8, 9 PM. My luck.

Right next door crowed cafes and small restaurants with terraces and a lot of plants. Green Singapore is very green and you can feel freshness.
Lots of white people, less of asians, lost of Indians, we are next to Little India, and it’s chaos. Curry  and noodles smells.

Far East Plaza, open until 10 pm:
This open mall is for a young and stylish crowed, no brands. But small shops, some korean vintage and some hongkong small edgy designers.
A lot of bad fake leather shoes and handbags stores, but if you look well some are quite interesting like this one: EXHIBIT store.

ORCHARD ROAD by night in a taxi behind the open window all the lights running, felling the humid air getting lighter. It felt nice.

Last shot and off we fly.

Celine. Oh yes an old luxury brand. Famous in the 90s no? Can’t really remember, don’t really care.I used to cross the shop everyday from my way home. Never stopped to look at the window though.Honestly.

Yes.
Celine.
The feeling of freshness you get when you enter the store. Essentials. It breathes newness.
I LOVE CELINE.
WE ALL LOVE CELINE.
As a matter of fashion it is is a perfect brand in all the possible ways. The cuts are just perfect. Its colours are fashionable with the right balance of classicism. Neutrals, and bold true colours, navy, red or green emerald.
It fits with every jewellery, it is simple and truly elegant.
No logo to make it complicated. It is auto-sufficient.
Luxury here is not a feeling it is a reality, and it is very simple.
By the structure of the garnement through the fabric and the displays.
Essential, not overloaded. Clean.
It is almost too quiet, inside. Peaceful.
Well all this is the perfect example how much the creative director aesthetics is important for a brand and that logo is not enough today.
Phoebe Philo ex designer of Chloe, the long time cheriched clothes of independant women.
I cannot immagine how much fun and satisfaction Phoebe Philo should have had rebuilding it from scratch.She was given “carte blanche” meaning here are the keys, enjoy, we trust you. We trust Phoebe because she is a woman with a great vision of life and down to hearth. With one interview she conquisted the unpitable /unpitiness world of fashion.
Well this was a challenge 100 % well accomplished. We cannot wait for september, to see the show. And we expect it to be really cool.
There are still dreams out there.

Their philosophy is to provide millions of choice so everyone can choose it’s own information.Infact Milk is about everything that’s cool, from objects to people. Street style more than High Fashion.

Milk is definetly THE coolest magazine in Asia. You can find the chinese version, street wear oriented and the Honk-Kong version a little more sophisticated every month in every newspaper stand.

You cannot find it in Europe, so that is definetly a must bring back local souvenir from your next pit-stop to HK.
